Hi Micky, I caught one on the Upper Benyons last week, about a pound and a half on single pellet. I couldnt think what had my bait until it jumped then all became clear.

I've caught brown trout this season on the Kennet at Brimpton, Woolhampton, Aldermaston and Newbury. Taken on pellet, luncheon meat and maggots. Biggest around 2lb. Every one fought like a nutter.

My Mate had a couple of Brownies on Lower Benyons a couple of weeks ago too, really scrawny things..............

There are quite a number of stocked areas higher up the Kennet and quite a good head stocked in the Enbourne too (I think it's the Enbourne that joins the Kennet behind Newbury Manor.............

It is probably more likely they have found there way from stocked river stretches as all the stillwater fisheries are stocked with a much larger head of Rainbows and I have not heard of any rainbows showing in the Kennet.
