A little "jenny Wren" taken on the Kennet on the last day of the season.

Its great to see so many of the smaller birds have survived the cold winter.

in Portsmouth this morning.

That almost looks like a tiny fish the heron has in his beak in the second photo Micky. I have seen videos of crafty wading birds using bread as bait to draw fish in so that they can catch them....is that what is happening here? Or has the heron become so domesticated that he now takes bread...and that is a minnow shaped piece of bread he/she has?

I bet there are loads of drowned worms for these opportunistic birds to feed on....and loads of trapped fish for them when the waters subside a bit :)
